Perhaps we should work out the whole wireless emergency communication problem first. Besides there are much better ways to provide connectivity than using wireless. Fiber is already run by the state all over the place. WiFi within buildings, perhaps, but blanketing the whole state, probably not.

The wireless opportunties are not related to the emergency network but I agree that issue has been mishandled over the years.

Also, fiber maybe a possibility but the wireless option is a good one and the best part is other folks have done it so the learning curve is not so steep.

    Thanks,

First tell me why school students need WiFi in the first place. Are Johnnie and Susie getting backlogged on their MySpace pages? If businesses need WiFi networks then they’re free to set them up on their own, following a cost-benefit analysis. Until otherwise convinced I will view this as corporate welfare.

    G rex,

You missed the wi fi part of gun safety. Did you know you can use wireless applications for detecting when and where a gun shot occurred and using the sound signature and cameras you can track the where, when and what now.

The students need it for the online curriculum that will be upon us in a few short years. My son in Medical School has this option now.

Businesses are interested in a big way but only if others “buy in”.

The payoffs are exponential the costs are linear.

    Mike
