It is laudable for the city of Wilmington to look to the future and decide on a plan to bring more jobs and more revenue to Wilmington. However, in an effort to revitalize the city and move ahead the city can’t leave others behind.
The landowners who have paid taxes and provided jobs for years and who obeyed the law should not have the law used to “take” their land by what appears to be due process. All landowners should be made “whole” if the city follows through with the plan to take their properties.
